2021-2022 OKJCL Chapter Registration Form
2021-2022 OKJCL Member Registration Instructions

If you are new to the JCL or are a teacher who feels overwhelmed at the idea of getting involved, this year we encourage you to take a small step into the world of JCLove. Start off by doing the following two things: join JCL at the beginning of the fall semester and then honor your smarties by inducting them into the NJCL Honor Society in the spring. Many schools allow their NJCL Honor Society students to wear purple and gold cords during graduation! Membership in the NJCL Honor Society also stand out on your students’ college applications and resumes. This year take the leap: membership in the JCL carries many privileges and opportunities including prestige for you and your students.

Here are a few tips for registering your Oklahoma Junior Classical League chapter.
  • My big piece of advice is to run your membership drive for three weeks. Students always wait until the last minute to register whether your drive is three weeks or six weeks. At Bishop McGuinness, I will run my membership drive from August 22nd (our second week of school) to September 8th.
  • It's more likely to stress you out and be taxing on your time if you drag the membership drive process out. If you are collecting dues from one student every other day for six weeks, it's going to take a lot more effort than if you keep your drive short. Again, most kids will wait until the last two days to bring their money.
  • If additional students want to join, it's likely to be around the time you are registering kids for Convention. We will release an additional membership form for you to add members later in the semester should more interested students want to become JCLers!
  • At BMCHS I collect dues and money for our first t-shirt at the same time. I send home a little piece of paper with check boxes that say "I am paying for... *membership dues only ($10) *JCL shirt only ($15) *membership dues and a JCL shirt ($25)".
  • If you are new to your school, make sure you talk to your business office before you begin this process to figure out their rules for collecting money and paying vendors.

As always, please feel free to contact your OKJCL state chairs with any questions you might have. We would love to have our state officers come visit your students and help them get excited about getting involved. Being a JCLer is about sharing one’s love for the classical world, but it’s also a great way to make friends with fun and interesting people from across the state or country.

We hope to see you at all of the events we are sponsoring this year!
